If you visit HIRO CLINIC, we can also provide a legal paternity test. A legal opinion is more useful for submitting to a court of law.
The process from applying for an inspection to receiving the results.(Legal Appraisal)
STEP1
Call HIRO CLINIC. We will make an appointment.
STEP2
After visiting HIRO Clinic, DNA is collected from the buccal mucosa. Before the collection, we will confirm your identity and take a video of the collection. DNA will be collected in the presence of a physician without any doubt from the person himself/herself.
STEP3
Specimens are sent to Tokyo Hygienic Laboratory along with a consent form.
STEP4
The results will be returned to you by e-mail. We will later send you a paper certificate with the doctor’s autograph.
Postnatal paternity testing does not usually require a blood sample, so we will send you a set of specimen kits at home. For private analysis, you can have a specimen taken from your buccal mucosa and send it back to us, and we will send the results to your e-mail in about 7 days.

Postnatal Paternity Test
Postnatal paternity testing is a DNA test used to confirm whether a genetic parent-child relationship exists between a father and his child after the child’s birth. Paternity testing is widely used in legal proceedings and for personal peace of mind because it uses scientific methods to confirm parent-child relationships with a high degree of accuracy.
How Postnatal Paternity Tests Work
DNA paternity testing confirms the parent-child relationship based on the genetic law that children inherit half of their genes from their father and half from their mother. Usually, a specific section of DNA called a short-strand repeat (STR) sequence is analyzed to determine paternity by comparing the DNA of the child with that of the prospective father.
Flow of Appraisal
- Sample Collection: Generally, DNA samples are taken from the prospective father and the child. The collection method is simple, usually using oral cells (swab the inside of the cheek).It is a painless, non-invasive method.
- DNA analysis: The collected sample is sent to a laboratory for DNA analysis, which examines the DNA in the STR region to determine the degree to which the genes of the prospective father and the child match.
- Determination of parent-child relationship: The analysis results confirm whether the child’s DNA is a 50% match with the DNA of the potential father. If a parent-child relationship exists, it can be confirmed with a probability of 99.99% or higher.
Why is a paternity test conducted?
