Up to how many weeks of pregnancy can a prenatal paternity test be performed?

親子鑑定 NIPPT DNA鑑定 検査 妊娠中 スケジュール

Prenatal paternity testingcan be carried out throughout the entire pregnancy, although it can be carried out in several ways depending on the progression of the pregnancy. However, the time at which it can be carried out depends on the method used.

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPPT): can be performed from 6 weeks of pregnancy and analyses foetal DNA from the mother’s blood. This method can be performed throughout the entire pregnancy. However, it is more accurate if it is performed from about 8 weeks’ gestation, as it gives a more accurate picture in a single test.

Chorionic villus tissue sampling (CVS): performed between 6 and 12 weeks’ gestation.

Amniocentesis (amniocentesis): commonly performed between 15 and 20 weeks’ gestation.

Each of these methods is performed at a specific number of weeks. The applicable tests change as the pregnancy progresses. It is important to assess the needs and risks of paternity testing and then choose the best time and method in consultation with your healthcare provider.
