About Hair Transplants at Hiro Clinic

Online consultations are possible, but since pre-surgery blood tests, photo sessions, and hair volume checks are required, an in-person visit is necessary at least once.

The consultation takes about 15 to 30 minutes. The surgery itself varies depending on the number of follicles to be transplanted and the method used, but generally, it takes around 4 to 8 hours.

Pre-surgery blood tests are required, and due to surgery scheduling, a separate appointment for the surgery will need to be made after the consultation.

The Natural Pro method at Hiro Clinic takes more time and effort, so the cost per graft is approximately double that of the FUT method (a technique that involves removing a strip of scalp skin to extract hair follicles). With the same budget, you would typically be able to transplant about half the number of follicles compared to the FUT method.

Not everyone is suitable for a hair transplant. Suitability depends on factors such as hair condition, overall health, and age. The doctor will assess your eligibility during the consultation.

Yes, women can also undergo hair transplants. The surgery will be tailored to the specific pattern of hair loss in women.

Types of Hair Transplants at Hiro Clinic

At Hiro Clinic, we offer three types of treatments: Natural Pro Non-shave method, Natural Pro Shave method, and PRP therapy.
The Natural Pro Non-shave method involves extracting hair follicles one by one from the scalp without shaving the hair, and transplanting them to the thinning areas. Small punch tools are used to extract the follicles from the donor area (usually the back of the head) and then transplant them to the thinning areas. This method is characterized by small scars and a quick recovery.
The Natural Pro Shave method involves shaving the hair and takes less time and is more cost-effective than the Non-shave method.
PRP therapy involves extracting platelets from the patient’s blood and injecting them into the thinning areas. Blood is drawn from the patient, processed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and the concentrated platelets (PRP) are injected into the thinning areas. PRP stimulates hair growth and improves the health of the hair roots.

Regarding scars, the Natural Pro Shave and Non-shave methods leave the least noticeable scars, and PRP therapy typically leaves no visible scars.

With both the Natural Pro Shave and Non-shave methods, about 2500 grafts can be transplanted in a single session. If more grafts are needed, a second session will be scheduled on a different day.

There is a limit to how dense the hair can appear after one session of Natural Pro, but with two sessions, you can achieve a hair density similar to the back of the head or above the ears. Even if there is little to no natural hair left in the thinning areas, two sessions of hair transplant can result in a natural-looking density. If some natural hair remains, one session might be enough to achieve a good appearance. In the future, even if the remaining natural hair thins further, the transplanted hair will continue to grow for life, and a second session can be done at that point. The results depend on the transplant area and donor density, so please consult with our doctor during the free consultation for more detailed information.

About Hiro Clinic’s Natural Pro

The hair transplant takes about 5 to 8 hours at most, but it is often completed in a shorter time. The procedure is outpatient, and no follow-up visits are necessary. You can return to light office work the day after surgery, so many office workers take advantage of weekends to undergo the Natural Pro treatment.

The transplanted hair follicles typically grow permanently. However, the original hair may continue to thin over time. Proper care and follow-up are important to maintain long-term results.

Downtime varies from person to person, but most people can return to normal activities within 1 to 2 weeks. Complete recovery may take a few months.

For Natural Pro Shave and Non-shave (Follicular Unit Extraction method):
・Small scabs will appear at the donor and transplant sites for the first 1-2 weeks.
・The transplanted hair will begin to grow slowly around 3-4 months after the procedure.
・Natural-looking results are typically seen between 6 to 12 months.

For PRP therapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy):
・Redness and swelling at the injection sites will subside within 1-2 weeks.
・Hair density will start to increase around 3-6 months.
・Visible improvement and natural-looking results are typically seen around 6-12 months.

Results vary by individual, and the final outcome may differ. For detailed advice and treatment plans, it is recommended to consult with a specialist doctor.

Advantages include using your own hair, which results in very natural-looking hair. The transplanted hair will continue to grow for life, providing a long-term solution. Once the transplant is successful, little to no special maintenance is required. Particularly with Natural Pro Shave and Non-shave methods, the hair is concealed, making scars less visible.
Disadvantages include high treatment costs, and full recovery may take weeks to months. Additionally, the donor area has limited hair, so it may not be sufficient for large-scale thinning. There are also risks involved in the surgery, such as infection, bleeding, or hair loss from the transplanted follicles.

There is no specific season that is ideal for the treatment. However, considering the seasonal characteristics, spring and autumn are good times as the moderate temperatures are conducive to scalp recovery after the procedure.

Shock loss refers to the temporary shedding of existing hair after the Natural Pro procedure. It occurs due to stress or irritation to the scalp during surgery, as well as temporary changes in blood flow to the scalp.
This is a temporary phenomenon, and the hair typically grows back within a few weeks to months. Shock loss typically affects the pre-existing hair, not the transplanted hair. The lost hair will regrow, and the transplanted hair will also begin to grow.

No, shock loss does not occur in all patients. The occurrence of shock loss depends on individual scalp and hair conditions, the surgical method, and the doctor’s skill. Not all patients will experience shock loss, and some may not experience it at all.

Hair will start to grow from the transplanted areas about 3-4 months after the surgery. Within 6 months, hair will grow to about 2-3 cm, and it will appear natural within 8 months to 1 year.

Local anesthesia is used, so there is minimal pain during the procedure.

It takes 3 to 5 days for the transplanted hair to take root, and about 2 weeks for the scalp to stabilize. Avoid touching or scratching the transplanted areas to ensure proper fixation. Also, the scalp will be sensitive after surgery, so wear a hat when going outside to avoid direct sunlight and take precautions against sunburn.

Generally, you can wash your hair the night after the surgery. However, during the first week, the hair is more likely to fall out, so avoid rubbing it. Use diluted shampoo or lightly spray the hair with water. Avoid strong showers for the first week.

In the first 1-2 days after surgery, the transplanted areas may appear red or scabby. Between the 3rd and 7th day, the color will change from brown to dark brown. During the red phase, scars may be more visible, but wearing a hat or bandana can help cover them. The scabs usually disappear by the 10th day after surgery, and after that, the scars are hardly noticeable.

About Hiro Clinic’s PRP Therapy

PRP therapy stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, which uses platelets extracted from the patient’s own blood to promote hair growth.

The treatment duration varies depending on the patient’s condition, but typically requires several sessions over a few months. Details will be provided during the consultation.

Since injections are used, there may be some discomfort, but anesthesia can be applied to reduce the pain.

Side effects are generally mild, but temporary swelling, redness, or pain at the injection sites may occur. Serious side effects are rare, though there is a small risk of skin infection or bleeding. Be sure to discuss risks and benefits with your doctor before proceeding with the treatment.

Results vary from person to person, but many patients begin to notice changes 3 to 6 months after the treatment.

Yes, PRP therapy is suitable for both men and women and is effective for both types of hair thinning.

The cost depends on the treatment plan and number of sessions required. An estimate will be provided during the initial consultation.

Generally, anyone in good health can undergo PRP therapy. However, the specific conditions will be assessed by the doctor during the consultation.

After treatment, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and use the prescribed scalp care products.

Yes, combining both treatments can yield more effective results. The combination plan will be tailored to the patient’s condition and goals.

Risks

Hair transplantation carries risks such as infection, bleeding, scarring, and the shedding of transplanted hair. These risks can be minimized with proper care and follow-up.

Temporary side effects may include swelling, pain, itching, and redness. These typically improve within a few days to a week.

・Maintain cleanliness: Follow instructions to carefully wash your scalp.
・Avoid irritation: Do not rub or scratch your scalp.
・Avoid sunlight: Wear a hat when going outside to avoid direct sunlight.
・Avoid strenuous exercise: Refrain from heavy lifting or intense exercise for 1-2 weeks.
・Avoid smoking and drinking: Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol during the recovery period.
・Sleeping position: Keep your head elevated while sleeping (for 2-3 days, avoid letting the transplanted area touch the pillow).
・Take prescribed medication: Follow the prescribed medication regimen.
・Follow-up: Attend regular check-ups with your doctor, and consult immediately if you notice any abnormalities.
Following these guidelines will promote a smoother recovery and ensure the transplanted hair grows well.

After the procedure, it is recommended to keep the area clean for several days, avoid strenuous exercise, and stay out of direct sunlight. Detailed care instructions will be provided by the doctor after the surgery.

No, it will not be noticeable. With Natural Pro, we use the highest quality hair from the back of the head as the donor hair. The transplanted hair will grow in the same texture and color as the original hair, making it look very natural. If your natural hair is fine and soft, the transplanted hair will also be fine and soft, and if your hair is thick and coarse, the transplanted hair will match that as well. The transplanted hair will be so natural that even you may not notice it. As a result, there will be no noticeable difference, and you can feel assured that it won’t cause any discomfort to others around you.

Swelling and pain after the procedure typically last for a few days to a week. Taking prescribed pain relievers and sleeping with your head elevated can help alleviate these symptoms.

Precautions Before and After Surgery

Before the surgery, you should avoid smoking and alcohol for at least two weeks. Additionally, certain medications or supplements (especially those that thin the blood) should be discontinued as per your doctor’s instructions. You should also refrain from scalp massages and excessive washing of the scalp.

・Do not rub or scratch your scalp.
・Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for 1-2 weeks after surgery.
・Wear a hat when going outside to avoid direct sunlight.
・Avoid high-temperature environments such as saunas or hot springs.
・Refrain from smoking and alcohol during the recovery period.

Hair washing after the surgery should be done gently starting on the third day, following your doctor’s instructions. You will also receive specific guidance on how to wash your hair, so please follow those instructions carefully.
