From Initial Consultation to Treatment Appointment
Initial Visit & Reception
Filling out a Medical Questionnaire & Photo Taking
Our clinic operates on a completely appointment-based system. After checking in at the reception, please fill out the medical questionnaire. In addition to your current concerns and symptoms related to hair thinning, we will also ask about your medical history and any medications you are currently taking, as this information is essential for providing appropriate treatment. Following this, we will take photographs of your scalp to assess the condition of your hair more accurately and to compare before-and-after results if you decide to proceed with hair transplant treatment.

Counseling
Hearing Your Concerns & Explaining Hair Transplantation
We will ask about your previous experiences with hair thinning treatments, if any, as well as your preferences and concerns. Based on your current condition, we will suggest a treatment plan tailored to your needs, explaining the benefits and risks of hair transplantation and our clinic’s approach in an easy-to-understand manner. In addition to hair transplantation, we offer various other hair treatments, including oral and topical medications. Whether you are considering a hair transplant or have never had any treatment for thinning hair, feel free to consult with us. We will address any questions or concerns, no matter how small.

Explanation of Treatment Flow and Costs
Detailed Explanation of Costs and Treatment Process
We will thoroughly explain the costs and payment options for treatments like hair transplantation and oral medication, as well as the detailed treatment process. For hair transplantation, the procedure is completed in one day, but redness and scabbing may be visible for several days to weeks after the treatment. It may take anywhere from 4 months to 1 year to see noticeable results. Even for treatments using oral or topical medications, results typically take several months. Based on these timelines, we will propose an optimal treatment schedule that fits your plans. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about AGA (androgenic alopecia), hair thinning, daily habits, diet, or any other related concerns. We can also discuss payment methods.
Blood Test & Treatment Appointment
Blood Test for Safety & Scheduling the Treatment Date
For patients wishing to undergo a hair transplant, we ask for a blood test to ensure the procedure can be performed safely. We will also provide information about scheduling the surgery.
Please be aware that the initial visit may take a while as it includes consultation, diagnosis, and testing. Therefore, we kindly ask you to allow extra time for your first visit.

Consultation
After completing your check-in, you will first change into the surgical attire. Then, a consultation with the attending doctor will take place. The doctor will ask about your current physical condition, and then confirm details like the number of grafts, the transplant area, and the design, which were previously decided at the time of booking.

Payment
After the consultation, you will proceed to payment. You can pay in cash or use a credit card.

Pre-treatment & Marking
You will move to the operating room, where the marking of the transplant area and preparations will take place. The doctor and several staff members will assist with these preparations.

Shaving of Donor Area
Typically, the donor areas (the back and sides of your head) will be shaved using clippers.
※In case of the Non-shave method, shaving is not performed.

Anesthesia Before Graft Extraction
To reduce both physical and psychological stress, sedatives may be used, making you feel drowsy. Local anesthesia will then be applied to the shaved donor area where the grafts will be extracted. The injection is done with consideration for your comfort.

Graft Extraction
Using a micro-punch blade, the doctor and several staff members will quickly extract the grafts.
※You will not feel pain, as the anesthesia is effective. The extracted grafts will be stored in the best possible condition based on research.
※The number of staff involved will depend on the number of grafts being transplanted.

Shaving the Transplant Area
Typically, the area where the grafts will be transplanted will also be shaved.
※In case of the Non-shave method, shaving is not performed.

Anesthesia for the Transplant Area
You will be positioned upright, and local anesthesia will be applied to the transplant site. Different types of anesthesia will be used based on your condition to ensure you do not feel any pain.

Transplantation of Extracted Hair
Each graft (hair follicle) is essentially an organ that produces hair. To ensure high graft survival rates, multiple staff members will assist in transplanting the grafts. To avoid damaging the graft tissue, an air-pressure implant device is used to gently place the grafts, rather than using tweezers.

Post-operative Treatment
After the procedure, we will disinfect the area and check to ensure that bleeding has stopped before you leave. If necessary, gauze will be applied.

Post-operative Progress
Post-operative Observation & Inquiries
Although the hair transplant procedure is completed in one day, it takes approximately six months to one year for the transplanted hair to fully grow and for you to enjoy your final post-surgery hairstyle. During this period, you may experience temporary hair shedding, shock loss (initial shedding), and have various questions, concerns, or need advice on daily hair care methods.
At Hiro Clinic, we offer an “Inquiries” service for such patients. Feel free to contact us at any time for any concerns, no matter how small. Our doctors and nurses will be happy to assist you. Additionally, we conduct regular post-surgery follow-ups. Based on the condition of the transplanted hair and scalp, we provide appropriate follow-up care and advice as needed.
