In the field of aesthetic medicine, the term “rejuvenation” is often used to describe skin revitalization. Simply put, it involves improving fine lines, dullness, and pigmentation while enhancing skin firmness and radiance to improve overall skin texture. Research on light-based rejuvenation began about 10 years ago, and recently, Photo RF (IPL Therapy) was developed, marking a rapid advancement. Traditional laser treatments often caused side effects such as redness, swelling, temporary pigmentation, or scabs lasting several days to weeks after the procedure. The time required for the skin to return to normal after a procedure is called downtime. With laser treatments, downtime made it difficult to treat the entire face in one session. Light therapy was introduced to eliminate this “downtime.” While light therapy has been considered a revolutionary treatment for removing spots and freckles, its rejuvenation effects were limited. This limitation was addressed by upgrading light therapy to “Photo RF (IPL Therapy).” Photo RF (IPL Therapy) is an advanced aesthetic medical device that combines enhanced APL (Advanced Pulse Light), an evolved version of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), with high-frequency energy (RF). The dual action of light and RF allows for safer and more effective deep skin treatments that lasers or traditional light therapies could not achieve. As a result, Photo RF is effective not only for pigmentation and dullness but also for improving skin firmness, fine lines, sagging, acne, acne scars, and redness. Photo RF (IPL Therapy) features a unique cooling system and temperature control to prevent burns during treatment. It was approved in 2002 by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the equivalent of Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, ensuring it is a safe and reliable treatment.

What is the difference between this and esthetics?
Many incidents of burns and nerve damage have occurred due to risks not fully understood during esthetic or self-esthetic procedures. As a result, esthetic facilities are now advised not to use certain equipment. While some esthetic facilities still offer treatments that should only be performed at medical institutions, esthetic machines are generally set to half the maximum output of medical-grade machines, making the results less noticeable. We recommend receiving treatment at a medical institution to ensure safety and effectiveness.
What is Photo RF (IPL Therapy), and what concerns does it address?
Photo RF (IPL Therapy) is a machine that simultaneously emits two types of light: IPL (Photo) and RF (Radio Frequency). It includes wavelengths that target dark and red areas, improving issues such as spots, freckles, redness caused by dilated capillaries, and acne scars, while also removing dullness. Additionally, RF strongly stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, helping to improve sagging and enlarged pores.
My skin is sensitive. Is the treatment safe for me?
Photo RF (IPL Therapy) is safe even for those with sensitive skin. At our clinic, we perform test irradiation upon request and adjust the output according to your skin condition, ensuring your peace of mind.
Is the treatment painful?
Unlike traditional light therapy, this treatment is almost painless. In rare cases, you may feel a slight sensation similar to being snapped lightly by a rubber band.
Are there any precautions after the treatment?
There is minimal disruption to daily life. You may experience slight warmth or redness from the day of treatment to the next day, but makeup can be applied immediately afterward. Additionally, your skin may be more sensitive to UV rays after the treatment, so please use sunscreen.
